Developing human capital

We understand the importance of our people

To ensure a motivated and highly skilled workforce, we consistently invest in programmes and initiatives that give individuals the leadership skills and technical abilities needed to continue innovating products and services that meet the needs of our customers.

The Good Practice Network

In order to facilitate better communication between employees at our plants, and encourage a unified knowledge-sharing approach to common problems, we introduced the Good Practice Network. It was created in two stages:

  1. The Good Practice Forum: Being responsible for continuous improvement, plant managers and industrial directors receive a weekly email containing good-practice information. They then assess whether it can be applied or modified, or feed back any new ideas that it inspires.

  2. Good Practice Groups: Various groups were formed comprising people from plants with similar production technology. These groups meet in person at one of the relevant plants to discuss specific issues and opportunities and to share best practice techniques.

Manufacturing Academy

Prysmian Group’s Manufacturing Academy, based at our Mudanya plant, Turkey, is our benchmark for excellence and expertise in Operations and Manufacturing. The Academy offers three different programmes to our employees, according to their role and seniority: Manufacturing Fundamentals, Advanced Manufacturing, Excellence in Manufacturing, and specific training in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Lecturers comprise both global and local experts who share their knowledge and experience on different topics.

We need people who are able to think differently and follow their ideas, who have the power to dream and to change.

“Our future success depends on our ability to progress, learn and improve as an organisation and as individuals. Therefore, we’ve developed this academy in order to focus on the best manufacturing skills that can lead towards excellence.”

STEM IT! Programme

To attract talent and introduce new lifeblood to our factories, we’re recruiting engineering professionals from outside the cable industry who have an average of five years’ experience in manufacturing, operations and quality functions.

These new recruits provide a vital contribution to the company, empowering others with knowledge and improving our way of working by introducing new ideas. In return, our internal experts provide customised training, covering everything they need to know about the cable industry.

Searching for talent from outside the cable universe

The aim of Make It Program is to take best practice and expertise in operations and manufacturing from outside of the cable industry and merge them with our own for increased productivity and future success.
